    Interesting new business for everyone

We have recently started a new business allowing folks to drive and Ariel Atom, amongst others, at various tracks across the East Coast of the USA. Take a look here:

We welcome your patronage and input.

Welcome. Good luck with the business

Can you give us some more information about the side pods (like the Atom 500) you got on the car? are they there for looks or serve a cooling / intake purpose? I cant quite tell from the tiny pics on your site.

Silver, they got your youtube video on their page:

Hi, Andy. Welcome to Ariel Atom Chat!

We have a few other members here with commercial interests - which is absolutely fine, but I'm obligated to give you the same spiel I gave them.

Ideally, the majority of posts from any AAChat member should be non-commercial. Sure, it's OK to remind people from time to time that you have a product or service that might interest them, but that's usually best received when also accompanied by legitimate and helpful participation in real discussions. A great example is Eddie Hill (feel free to search his posts to see what I'm talking about). It's no secret to any of us that his business sells Atoms, but it's clear from his participation that selling Atoms isn't the main reason here's here.

Feel free to include links and descriptions of your business in your forum signature (you can edit it in your profile). And check the FAQ (link is up in the toolbar) for specific guidelines regarding advertising.

Again, welcome. If you have any questions regarding how much advertising is too much, please feel free to email me!

    Hi Bolus,
Regarding the side pods, that would be one for the Atom guys in the UK following their testing to see if they can actually quantify. My guess is mainly cosmetic and possibly to stop turbulence. I’m betting if we took them off and drove the car without knowing we’d be hard pressed to tell. They are great for sticking numbers on though . We can feel the rear wing however…

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the heads up. My main interest is to get as many people in the States into Atoms and Radicals as possible – I think they are fantastic cars and there are a lot of folks out there who’s lives would be greatly enhanced if they knew about these cars. This may not be the place to do this as I guess most folks already have Atoms and love them, but, there are probably a few folks that are kicking tires and are doing research here and are wondering how to try one out.

I’m not a huge talker or poster on sites, I tend to spend more time with the cars, but if I can chip in I’ll give it a shot.

My background is in bike racing, so when I moved to four wheels ie., Corvettes, Porsches etc it was all a bit underwhelming until discovering the likes of the Atom and Radical.

Presently, and I know you guys don’t want to hear this, but, the Radical does seem the better car and we can all lap faster in it. Maybe we have a setup problem with the Atom. I’ll poke around a bit on here and see if we are missing something obvious.

"the Radical does seem the better car and we can all lap faster in it." The Radical has a lower center of mass, better weight distribution and actually has very good aerodynamics..where the Atom sits taller,is butt heavy and acts like a cheese grater to the wind. I didn't realize just how important aerodynamics were to high speed performance till I bought an Atom.

My Gulfstream G280 is so much better at flying than my Atom too. I can barely get the Atom off the ground

Silver: Where is your advert for your atom for sale so we can take a look? So, what’s next for you? BTW, we can remove your vid if it’s upsetting in any way.

But you don't have to rebuild the atom motor every 40 hours.

"But you don't have to rebuild the atom motor every 40 hours." Properly built, driven and maintained Radical motors (especially Hayabusa engines) last into the 50-60 hr range, and that is a LOT of race time. If you are just doing HPDE days, they last even longer. Most track days are 2hrs of actual on track time, even less during an actual racing event. So 50 hrs will get you 1-2 seasons (25 track days) and a spare motor is not overly expensive. No,not as durable as a car "lump" but sacrifices have to be made to be the fastest.
