    The anti-Atom experience..

This week I installed headers/exhaust,a custom tune and some other mods on a customers 600whp Viper Truck SRT10. Driving impressions...lots of go..and good brakes...but what a sack of potatos for handling! It scared me... I had to go over and hug my Atom when I returned...

    Pretty truck:

    Serious V-10 go-power:

The power of an Atom is a terrible thing to waste! Atom owner/operator since 2007. The more you chase perfection, the faster it becomes. John Force for President! (I asked him once in person...he laughed)

Viper motor and Viper transmission,so no truck stuff there,,,but it is still sitting in a full ladder frame, leaf spring supported solid (live) axle pickup truck and weighs 5k.lbs

It is the fastest 5k.lb. vehicle I have ever driven...and could easily get someone into trouble..quick. This is one vehicle I would not want to ride in as an instructor at its potential track speeds.

Yikes...I do believe I will have nightmares tonight...

    Silly vehicle.

Silly vehicles are fun! What is 0-60? Just curious how much faster it is than my 30mpg V10 Touareg (about 5.5)

I didn't do any 0-60's..as that would really draw attention. My luck with cops is amazingly bad..always has been. I can find a road in the middle of nowhere and do a crispy launch..and sure enough,a cop will see me doing it. Plus, drag starts with this much power can break things at any moment.

Mostly roll-ons...it was surprisingly fast once all that mass was moving... Good thing it has excellent grippy brakes...however,I doubt they would stay functional for more than a few laps.

I would put this in the sub 5 second 0-60 range..with good tires and driver. Your VW may be faster consistently with the awd.

The stock SRT10 shifter mechanisms suck big time. They make some nifty adjustable gate replacement shifter units for these, and even make a blower kit..to boost these things into the 8-900hp range..absolute insanity! Funny....people say that about Atoms..

Speaking of Viper relatives, passed a yellow Hennessey Venom as I drove from Jacksonville Beach, Florida to the JAX airport (flying home from Spring Break). Sounded mean!
