Looks like that joke might nave been lost in translation. What Max meant was Yokohama A048 are yuck (awful) tires and better tires would improve launch.

I think as your car is a new Honda powered Atom 3 that second gear is the preferred start. I believe the light weight of the Atom and shortness of first gear makes it a waste of time.

Street use with rain, you will have to use an R compound with grooves..the Toyo 888 or the Nitto Nt-01 are good choices. That's ok about the joke..my Atom on Yuckos was almost useless for any spirited driving.
The power of an Atom is a terrible thing to waste! Atom owner/operator since 2007. The more you chase perfection, the faster it becomes. John Force for President! (I asked him once in person...he laughed)

    Should fit the wheel..but I don't run fenders,so can't help you there..

I fit a 245/40/17 Toyo R888 under the fenders though I had to modify the bracket to move them up a little. The diameter was
    24.7in (627 mm)

    That Nitto is
25.47 in diameter (646mm) so it wont fit without some heavy modification to the fender support.

I dont think you would be happy with the Nitto's either. They are too hard of a tire for the Atom.

The 888 and the NT-01 both have a tread wear rating of 100..and many of the guys that run both (on light Miatas) say they are equals.
Funny thing about tread wear numbers..you can't always go by just that alone. For example..the 048 has a wear rating of 60,and should outperform the 888,but on track, that is not the case!
