Remote Oil Filter replacement question

So I'm replacing the externally mounted oil filter on my Atom. It is a Nappa Gold 1348. Does it matter if I get an identical replacement? Is anyone aware of a problem with that filter, or can you suggest a better filter?

I'll go and look around now and find out again exactly how many quarts of oil my engine uses. =)

My oil guy recommends the Purolator PureOne PL10241 with a service interval of not more than 5000 miles.

5 to 6 with the remote oil cooler/filter and Masterlube, depending on how much of the old oil you can get out of the pan. You need to lift the front of the car up a good bit to have the drain plug at the lowest point of the pan.

I'm running Pennzoil Platinum 5W30, but my oil guy now recommends "Rotella T5 10w30 Syn Blend CJ4" over the Platinum. It is apparently a commercial oil (so available in big containers at low prices) with the same additive package as Pennzoil Ultra.

The Napa Gold filters are made by Wix. They are suppose to be very good. I read some tests on filters & how they cut new ones open to see what kind of money the mfg.'s spent on the internal construction and filter media. The test was on about 10 differant brands. The Napa one came out of the test being well recommended. I will see if I can still find a link to that test report.

I use 8 quarts with my external oil cooler and filters and one extra in the accumulator. 9 all together
