Is the forum in a go slow mode during US night time?

I seem to find more often than not that I can't post at all and browsing is painfully slow. Then occasionally, like now, everything works well. As I'm in a much different time zone I wondered if the server or host is doing something to slow the traffic.

When I try to post the screen up to title box is drawn but the rest of the screen components such as this body text box, the post icons, tags box and attachments panel fail to appear. It just sits with the little Safari update wheel spinning endlessly.

I think the forum is running on a shared-host hosting service. So it isn't this forum itself, but other stuff going on at the hosting provider.

This has come up a few times before:

    Can someone feed the hamster?
Is there a database contention problem or something else going on that slows posting?

It was actually going great there for a while and I managed to get some photos uploaded. It then kicked me off and I got the message below. It took a while before I was able to get the site back but now it seems fine.

Spent the last couple days working on performance issues. How's it looking now?

That's the cacheing system I use to try and keep the site faster and safer. Sometimes, it hiccups like that, but if you press the "retry a live version" link it usually brings you back quickly.

    Thanks Steve.

Everything seems a lot smoother now and posting a reply is not the ordeal it was previously.
