Like I have stated..driving "aids" are for those who choose not to learn,or are incapable of learning the required skills needed to pilot a vehicle. That is just the way it is today. There really is nothing difficult about learning how a car handles..but it does take time and effort. Most people today need instant gratification..therefore we have "miracle" cars with traction control, brake control, handling control, lane control and so on.

Yes,there will come a time when all you have to do is command the car to drive and off you will go.

Driving a car will become as obsolete as a clutch pedal...

Its not like you're gonna convince Mark guys. He's an old school mechanic, anything he doesn't understand (electric cars, traction control.. that the earth is round.. fire.. you know, complicated stuff) is crap.

    True,I am old school..and I believe drivers should learn to drive,period. If you can't drive well..then buy a Prius,or a Leaf...

I understand all too well about what makes cars tick,as I repair them every day..every day. It is my profession, and I enjoy it...most days.
Cars are becoming much more difficult to diagnose,as most of them are made by robots, and when something unusual happens, they must return to mama robot. Oh,the stories I could tell...

Why would I ever be "convinced" that cars should control themselves??

All these "aids" do is handicapp drivers from learning. I guess that is the mind set of todays society; If you are incapable of learning, have a machine do it for you.

Eventually, you will be able to put your dog into your car,and command the car to take Fido to the vets.

I'll have to agree with you on this one, some would do better if they let Fido drive.

If we only let competent skilled drivers on the road with proper training, then we'd be driving our family's around all the time

I've had plenty of track days and several driving schools now. I know not to brake in a turn or lift on an oversteer. But I also have medical condition that limit my ability to drive fast safely. So I either leave the car in the garage (like I do most of the time lately) or I look at ways that will make me feel more comfortable driving the car.

Nope, serious as a quadruple bypass on a project.

Making light of our indivuidal strengths *cough* quirks. Couldn't figure out how to get Silver's IAT's in there though. Everytime I'd put ass after my name it would get me mixed up with Mark.
