    is it to late?

    Hello all:

been out and just got back. Trying to catch up on all the good stuff now that works is out of the way.

Is it too late for me to get a set?

I plan to use mine on the streets so this would be a necessary stock items I want to have around the garage.

    Let me know Bolus.

They made 14 extra the last run and said they can sell them directly if people call. I've already sent one person their way but they may have a set of 6 left. Give them a call

Ballistic fabrication at 520-888-4441. I worked with Allen and they should understand what you need if you ask for the "custom Rod end adjuster nuts for the Ariel Atom ordered by Eric"

Beyond that they can easily be ordered in sets of 22 if more people are interested

    Re-organization of Ballistic Fabrication

    For Immediate Release:

Ballistic Fabrication is best known for its outstanding off-road product line and high quality in-house manufacturing capabilities. Ballistic has faced many adversities over the past few years related to inventory, product delivery and customer service. It is well known in the industry that while Ballistic Fabrication continues to supply large amounts of high quality parts worldwide, the aforementioned deficiencies have created longer than usual lead times in shipping and product delivery. These problems have been attributed in part to extremely rapid company growth which in turn led to inventory control issues.

Ballistic Fabrication has partnered with an investor to bring additional financial stability to the company. In an effort to better serve its customers, Ballistic has invested in a state-of-the-art inventory / shop management system. Ballistic will now be able to effectively manage production and inventory of every specific part in their catalog of thousands of part numbers. This information in turn will be reported live to Ballistics customers via the website. Ballistic hopes that this new system alleviates future confusion and issues related to potential backorders. In addition to these improvements, Ballistic now stocks a complete inventory of raw materials on hand. Ballistic hopes that this will alleviate backorders due to raw material supply shortages. Ballistic Fabrication has also found it necessary to restructure specific key personnel in the management and accounting team.

In addition to these changes, Ballistic has filed for Ch11 reorganization in order to restructure its financial obligations. Ballistic Fabrications lawyer stated the following -

“The past few years presented significant economic challenges to Ballistic Fabrication, LLC. Material costs, shipping costs, and the overall economic downturn are only a few factors that played a role in Ballistics decision to file a petition for bankruptcy relief. Contrary to any rumors circulating, Ballistic will not be shutting its doors. Ballistic will be continuing operations while reorganizing its debts and obligations. This process will not affect Ballistics’ ability to produce quality products and to service its customers. Ballistic and all of its dedicated employees are confident that they will emerge a stronger company.”

Ballistic Fabrication would like to thank its many loyal customers for years of support and looks forward to the opportunity to regain its customers trust and becoming the standard of excellence in the off-road industry.

Actually, if you Google "Ballistic Fabrication", you'll see that they had a lot of unhappy customers long before this.

I saw some negative comments after I worked with them. Definitely didnt have any bad experience here. I think we did 2-3 emails and I had a CAD drawing to look at a day later and then a completed set in the mail a few hours later. The guys I worked with were great considering we were a small run custom part order and other people wanted 5 times as much or blew me off.

I know this thread is old but I bought an 06 Atom 2 last July with only 138 miles on it! Of course I assume this thimble issue has never been addressed. So I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for me about replacing these... Are these working well for everyone? Does anyone happen to have any left over anywhere? I called ballistic fabrication last year and they said they didn't have any left and to get more I'd have to order a whole run of them. If I had to I guess I can spend the several hundred bucks as opposed to risking a failure but wanted to check in here with everyone first.

Also, I gathered from reading the thread that we aren't talking very early failure with these correct? So if I only have around 500 miles on the car so far I should be fine to continue driving it a while until I decide what to do with these thimbles?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

If I bought a 10 year old car (not just an Atom!) with 138 miles on it, I'd be checking much more than just the rod end adjustment thimbles. One thing you can do to temporarily prevent failure is screw them all the way in. This gives you extreme negative camber, but keeps the thimbles temporarily safe.

Don't let this sound like it's a more serious risk than it is. I think your use plays a big part. I've used my car pretty hard over the 8 years or so I've owned it, with 6 trips across the country and about a dozen and a half track events (with a few pretty hard off-track excursions). Although I did purchase a set of the better ones, I've never had any problems with the stock thimbles. With extreme negative camber, you're sacrificing your grip during braking and straight-line acceleration on the street. And I know for me, that would present a greater risk than the thimbles would.
