Thread: Wide Rear Fenders

  1. #11

    Finally - wide tires mounted

After months of "too busy" I finally got around to mounting the wide tires and the first fitting of the fender brackets. Brackets are stock replacement parts purchased from TMI.
They will need modified to allow about 1/2-3/4" more vertical adjustment as the brackets presently have almost zero clearance to the tread portion of the tires. All other clearances are fine.

Didn't get photos until I had already turned out the overhead lights. I'll do better later.

    Wheel & Tires

Can you tell about your wheels and tires?
Where purchased, price, what sizes, etc?
    Thanks!
    Tom

Wheels are Team Dynamics pro-race 1.2 and the tires are Toyo r888. The wheels need to be custom ordered from the UK. US dealers will order them like www.bimmerworld.com. The toyo's are pretty easily found in local shops that will order them.

Just noticed that TD now has a lighter pro-race 1.4g for lotus. Not sure if the offset is correct though.

Also, the Pro Race 1.3 now has sizes up to 20x9 or 18x10 that has the 4 stud pattern

    Is the bole pattern a 4- 3.75" ??
What kind of car does that come off of?
Do you know if I need any different offset since I have the Alcon Brakes?
    Thanks!

What do you have on your Atom now?

The bolt pattern is 4x100 on US made Atom 2's. I dont know the offsets off the top of my head but it does matter with the Alcons

These Team Dynamic wheels are basically custom. They get made at the factory when they are ordered. I doubt anything else runs a 17x9 wheel with 4x100 bolt pattern as shown here on Randy's car. Only sports cars that run 4x100 are miata and lotus that I know of.

I have an Atom 3. I measured my bolt circle last night and they are 4-3.75". My current wheels are Team Dynamics, so I guess I'll pursue them. I'd like to have a set for track and a set for street tires. I was told that if I go to 17" on the rear I'll need new fenders too. Unfortunately, I have carbon-fiber, but for the track I could have them made out of fiberglass or aluminum.
    Thanks!
