welcome!
Welcome, Eagle! Great to have you with us!
Check with your DMV.
Do so online and you should find the answer.
The best thing to remember about the DMV is that they are staffed with people who dont know their own rules and regulations and if they dont know something they like to say "No"
When it comes to something uncommon like trying to register a kit car or Atom, they most likely havent done it before, dont know the rules and will likely say "no" if they dont understand something.
So the best way to approach the DMV is with as little information as possible. If you go to the DMV saying "A want to register an Ariel Atom, here is a picture of it on a race track" they will most likely say "hell no, that's a race car" and refuse to talk to you further
If you go to the DMV saying "how do I register a kit car" they will probably help you out.
(If you cant tell, I dont like the DMV and the idiots that work there)
It looks like in New Hampshire the category that best fits the Atom is a "Reconstructed vehicle"

If you are going to buy used, I'd recommend going to the DMV and asking out to register a used kit car or reconstructed vehicle from out of state. Dont give them any more information than that. Definitely, dont ever call the car by the make and model (Ariel Atom). If they ask, say it is like trying to register a Cobra kit car. Most of them know what a Cobra is.
The cars are and have been sold as kits so this is a true statement.
Good luck, I dont think we've had an Atom owners in NH yet
Welcome to the forum Eagle_f90!
Bolus gave a lot of good advice that I agree with. Also, if they say NO.. that doesn't mean it can't happen. You may simply need to go to another DMV station. I've found that the difference between registering the car for the road or not can be one small minded person vs. one flexible open minded person, each interpreting the rules a different way.
"Opportunities do not come to those who wait; they are captured by those who attack."
Thanks for the great advice everyone.
There are two Atom owners in NH I know of...one has a 3 with windshield and the other a 2 with a retrofit windshield,(which NH requires). They got them registered...and there was some issue about inspection time..but I have not heard from them for a while..
The power of an Atom is a terrible thing to waste! Atom owner/operator since 2007. The more you chase perfection, the faster it becomes. John Force for President! (I asked him once in person...he laughed)
