    Hi Everybody

I will soon be the proud owner of a Spec Race Atom. I am counting the days to delivery, and to the start of the racing series.

I promise you a flood of impressions, pictures and videos soon after the first race

No, I have no plan to make the car street legal. Hopefully the racing series will flourish, the field will grow, and I'll keep racing. VIR is a fantastic place, and the TMI crew are very nice people, so I can see myself doing that for a while.

That's awesome! I can't wait to see pics (and maybe some in-car video of the races? I've been checking out the GoPro cams).

All the SRA cars are required to have a Video VBox Lite. That's the only required (and allowed) addition. So I'm sure there will be plenty of videos from the races.

The VBox system is SWEET, especially if you datalog and overlay some cool graphics:

    But WOW it's spendy!

Yes, the VBox is pricey. Had it not been required, I would have waited. But then again, the SRA is a relative bargain, and I really like the overlays, so I don't mind.

I've used a GoPro (SD) and a Hoyt Tech MSR-200 (HD) with pretty good results. The only thing I don't like about the GoPro is the very wide viewing angle, which reduces the impression of speed in the videos. The Hoyt is a little better in that respect.

A friend of mine uses Harry's Lap Timer (which also has nice overlays) on his iPhone, and that works pretty well.

I personally think having the vbox with all of its video capability is one of the smartest things TMI has done with this whole series. Instant marketing material for the series!
