I personally think having the vbox with all of its video capability is one of the smartest things TMI has done with this whole series. Instant marketing material for the series!
A friend of mine uses Harry's Lap Timer (which also has nice overlays) on his iPhone, and that works pretty well.
I've got that app, too - it's awesome. I don't think anyone has submitted the two tracks near my house for it yet (PGP and Pacific Raceways), but I'm hoping to submit them this summer.

when you say "submit them" what are you referring to?
I don't have the app or an iphone YET, but, the guy at eagles canyon said it plots it's own course so nothing has to be set up before hand.

You have to set up the start/finish points beforehand, and after your first run there's usually a little but of adjustment required to the to the checkpoints. But once the track is set, you can submit the track layout to a central server for use by any other app users.
