Ciro Design Racing aero package review

I installed the same aero texevora has. I like it a bunch. The wings move around quite a lot so my shop braced them and they are very, very rigid now. I had a couple of offs into gravel and the front wing was undamaged except for the powder coat. I credit the bracing for preventing the wing from digging into the gravel and being torn off. In addition, if the wings are moving around, downforce must be varying unpredictably.

Like cvjoint, I lost top speed. 2mph with barely any wing put in. 4 and even 6mph with more.

I spent 2.5 days adjusting, adjusting and adjusting some more only to go slower. Finally, I took out most of the wing front and rear. Simultaneously, the light bulb went off in my head: trust the downforce. Instantly 2+ seconds came off my lap time on a 2.75 mile track with an NHRA dragstrip for a main straight, several high speed twisty sections, a couple of carousels and some fiddly low speed stuff.

The next session I trusted the downforce even more and another 2+ seconds peeled off lap times, with more to come because the car wasn't balanced. I didn't have enough front wing in and the car pushed in several corners. I also need to trust the downforce even more. It's quite glorious.

With the power of a stock SRA, it's hard to imagine that any more than a little bit of rear wing and a medium amount of front wing will be beneficial except on very short tracks. The drag kills top speed too much. Texevora, I don't know how you didn't lose top speed. The aero produces drag. To a point, the benefits of downforce outweigh (pun intended) the negatives of added drag. But the drag must slow the car's top speed. It just has to.

I will soon be at a very short track and plan to crank in much wing. With no real straight to speak of and some fairly high speed twisty sections, a bunch of downforce will surely outweigh the drag/loss of top speed. Or at least that seems like it should be true. All in all, the Ciro set up seems like something all SRA owners should have. I'm not aware of any other mod that costs around $5k and makes the car more than 5 secs faster. Less than $1000/second. That's a bargain.

A final thought: the dual elements look very cool. No doubt about it. But even with only one event running the aero, I'm pretty sure single element front and rear will produce all the downforce (and more) that a stock SRA can handle. So that makes the Ciro single element set up cost noticeably less than $1000/second. An unbelievable bargain.
