Sold my SRA, am moving on to grownup car

I have owned the SRA for 3 season, can truly say it was the greatest car I have ever owned. I know I am preaching to choir, when I say it is a handful. I decided to move on to a grown up car. I now get to spend 10x in consumables to what I was paying with my Atom. Tracked my new car, Cayman S with TPC Turbo and all kinds of mods, it was really fast but almost felt like I was driving in slow motion. It was my first outing in this car and I was able to keep pace with GT3 and GT4 and field of about 40 other Porsches on track.

What I now clearly know, driving an Atom makes you the best driver you could possibly be. There are few cars that demand you drive it correctly, no nannies to cover for you. I feel that I am a much better driver than when I first sat in the the SRA for my first session. Wow what a ride.

Well I will miss the car and this group. I am sure the new owner will be part of this community and I know you guys will continue to share your wealth of knowledge.

With this I say fair well and safe driving.

BTW Bring a Trailer assisted with the sale and they were amazing helping me market my car.

That's a good review of the SRA! I'm guessing it's mostly the case PCA won't let you drive an Atom of their events right? I have a couple of organizations that won't allow Atoms in my area. After pouring sweat into making fenders I gave up on them. I'm just going to take my dollar to organizations that let me run. They are the better ones for it and deserve my dollar.

I for one cannot go back to production cars on track. Even a 2,500 lb fully converted to race spec production car feels like a bread van to me now. I have no love for the modern heavy weights, even the supercars are too sterile to connect with.

If Gordon Murray gets that T43 to production I might bite though, to give the Atom a backup car. If they hit the 1,900 lb curb weight target it should be good fun.

I agree with cvjoint. I've owned a number of high performance sports cars and I was spoiled originally by the Lotus Europa S2. After you've driven a 1,200-1,300 lb car, modern +3,000 lb units seem like behemoths regardless of the horsepower.

If I were to sell my AA3, I don't have a clue what could replace it. Maybe I'd go back to a 427 Cobra SC. Those are fun and not too heavy.
