In the dry it will drop seconds easily. It's not just the wet pavement here and there, the berms were wet so the track is effectively narrower, and the tires were cold. You can hear the tires squeal, they don't do that if they are up to temp.
The 1:32.X Atom had aero, but I just finished adding aero today![]()
The ZR1 record was set by Randy Pobst with GM crew to help, new tires, new car, empty track for Motor Trend magazine. It's as fast as she'll go.
I'm not as good of a driver as Randy Pobst lol, or even the Atom driver who set the record. Both those guys are pros that won actual competitions. I just do this for fun.

Nice!
Road and Track's performance car of the year track battle was on the same Thunderhill 2 mile track. Nice comparison with the last one I posted above. Note that my times aren't really fair for the Atom, on old tires and in traffic. If I didn't have to pass the Honda S2000 I could of saved 3/10ths easily to beat the Lambo. New tires would be worth seconds.

-Anything that strongly influenced results: front tires @35+ heat cycles, rears used from Ebay. Front wing is blocking a lot of airflow to the radiator so missing a few advance degrees to make peak power. Had to pass three cars. One car dumped lots of oil on track from turn 7 to 11.

I'm posting a 3 minute long video first. This one has the lap, cool cars, lots of passing, a full 360 degree spin, and some missed gears.

I want to say this is the Ariel Atom record for Sonoma. The fastest I've seen posted online is a 1:42.4. Mine is a 1:41.7.

CV- you can DRIVE! nice vids
Nice video!
i now officially cannot make or subsequently post any of my own.
All Atom vids are great by me! You got to handle this one aggressively, nothing like it out there.
CV - how do you like those mirrors? Do you have a link to them? (I swear, mirrors are a consumable on this car).
