I didn't really think giving the details of my other options was necessary.. ha ha

Deer was option one. Option two was small but sturdy pole. Option three was a curb and then tree. Option four was a dangerous and heavy fence that most likely would have fallen on my passenger and I or gone right into us assuming our current momentum hadn't slowed us down prior to it reaching us in the cockpit.

Based on your story I would agree you made the best choice for the circumstance.

Deer hits are chaotic to begin with, and where the freaked out animal lands would be an extreme concern. If it does not jump or react it would probably be on top of you in the cockpit, kicking and flailing till it got free or dead.

The dangers of driving an Atom are very similar to a motorcycle. Physical size and exposure being the most glaring traits. At least we minimize the chance of road rash or being removed from the vehicle.
