Two piece floating rotors for Atom 3 with stock wilwood calipers

So after having an issue with my drivers side front rotor (pads got coolant or water wetter on them and ate away one side of the rotor) I needed a new rotor. A set of stock rotors and pads was too expensive, the price to upgrade to a set of floating Alcon was also way too expensive, so I decided to make a set of floating rotors to work with the Wilwood brakes.
(My thinking of too expensive is for what they would normally cost for a non atom car)

I used a company that makes rotors and rotor hats for racing. They have a really good reputation and I am very happy with their work. I am thinking of making a few sets available to everyone. Is there any interest?

Coolant ate an iron rotor?? That's a first for me to hear. Stock one piece rotors are cheap.Maybe not as inexpensive as a Ford Focus..but still well under $100 each. Nice job of making a floater for the Wilwoods!

Coolant got on the pad which hardened it and it ate away the rotor on the side that got wet. Thats the only reason I can see as to what happened. I ran my rear rotor up front with the rear pads and I didn't have any issue while I was waiting for these to me made.

Also I completely agree. A stock one piece rotor should be less than $100. TMI charges $372 for each rotor. That is why I decided to make my own, and mine are now two piece and floating. Also now a replacement rotor will be much cheaper!

"Coolant got on the pad which hardened it and it ate away the rotor on the side that got wet." That is a first for me..and I've been in the car business for over 45 years. Maybe the pad was defective from the start? $372 for each rotor..wow. The last set I bought for my Atom2 was under $100/each,but that was 7 years ago,and they are different than the Atom3..and two piece units, but still..that seems very high for a one piece rotor. I wonder if they can be purchased from Summit Racing etc using the Wildwood part number or dimensions? Doesn't really matter since you went the custom route, but it would be interesting to know if there is an alternative. $372...that's crazy money for a plain rotor!

I searched a lot and couldn't find the rotors. Even asked here for info. They appear to be custom rotors. Let me know if I'm wrong.

i had my heat exchanger in the front at the time and it had water wetter in it and it took some effort to bleed (got everywhere). Maybe that messed with the pad?? Or you may be right, defective pad.

Lighter is better, especially rotating weight. And that is a fine looking piece.

    You did good.

Thanks for sharing and going to the trouble of weighing and posting.

So the million dollar question is how much did you pay for them.
Secondly, are you sure the $373 wasn't for 4 rotors, lol.

Depending on price it'd be nice to drop a pound a corner from my 10.3" 'sport' brake package. However, I guess another question is what are the major dimensions of the rotors (diameter/thickness) and hat offsets.

I'd need the hat drilled for 4x100 for the US Ariel Atom 2 as well as the the inconveniently oddball AA3 bolt pitch though.
