    Helmet mounted shift lights?

Boy it's a pain to type these posts in an iPhone

A while back I made a set of shift lights that sit under the bonnet. I'm thinking about replicating the project for helmet mounted shift lights instead.

I found some flexible adhesive backed LEDs and connecting them to the dash is pretty easy. I just need to find a source of bulk coiled wire too hook it up

If I made extra sets would anyone be interested? SPA charges $142 for their
Helmet mounted shiftlights. I made these for like $10.

    Neat idea.
Do all Atom instrument clusters support this function.
I currently don't have any shift lights, other than the tach changing color.
Would the design include green, yellow and red lights?

I'm still deciding on how to do it. All the dashes have a plug for shift lights. There are 2 possible lights. An early solid light and a blinking second light. To keep it small it may just have the blinking light. The rpm is adjustable on when it triggers. If I still have it I'll upload a video on my lights later tonight.

I have the shift lights in my steering wheel, but noticed that the bottom set (I presume green) are never on. Anyone know if this is normal? Since they're LEDs, I presume they're not burnt out yet. The yellow and red work as expected.

Here is my home made ones. A little brighter than the steering wheel ones which I could never see anyway (I set the triggers to low RPM's so I dont have to redline in the garage)

It has been an interesting search for coiled wire to use
in the helmet mounted led connector. So far the least expensive coiled cable I can find (that's not a telephone cable) is $30 for 2ft.

I found the correct molec connectors on mouser.com and at least those are only $.39 each. The LEDs to try should be here this week

Very cool, I am interested in doing this mod. Keep going Bolus. Lets get some parts together and make it a plug an play operation

I got a couple of LED's to play with today. there is one small rigid piece that could attach to the helmet in the line of site

And a flexible one that would attach to the inside of the viser. This one can be cut down to a shorter length.
