I took my wife Atoming for a few errands, as low as the car sits I drive with the headlights on during the day. We went into a store for about 39 minutes & the battery was almost dead, she cranked up although very weak.
So I decided to rewire the lights so they would turn off with the switch. I studied the wiring for the ignition/power switch & the headlight wiring. I added a wire from power out from the ignition switch to the trigger terminal on an original equipment Honda Fan/Compressor relay PN#80490-SM4-A01 or 39795-SB2-003, (either one is great) . I used the one originally for a 1990 Honda Accord (I'm a Honda/Acura mechanic & these old relays hardly ever fail, unlike the cheaper ones in use today) I re-wired the power wire to the headlight switch to Power in & out terminals of the relay. I hung the relay under the drivers side of the dash where there is a previously unused boss that I scrapped a little paint off of & connected the ground terminal to also. Now I can just leave the headlights on & they turn off when I switch the car off. I thought about adding a headlight on keys off buzzer, but no need now.
