Hoosier is just covering themselves against law suits. The Atom is labeled "for off road use only". So is pretty much every aftermarket part for street cars. Lawyers ruin everything.

^ if that were true, then why not put a disclaimer on every tire you manufacture?
The Atom statement of "off road use" is because it LEGALLY does not meet the NHTSA,DOT,and EPA standards for passenger vehicles for use on federal roads.
There is a huge difference between a company telling you not to use their product because it is dangerous to do so vs. because it is illegal.
You are a tough nut to crack!![]()

Hoosier A6 tires are SAFER on the street unless you're going to drive in the rain. The A048's that came on the car originally were dangerous even if they were bullet proof. More traction is always safer.
"More traction is always safer."
Well..certainly NOT true…you won't catch me on r25bs out street driving..![]()

No..they are radials. Most modern formula cars use radial construction tires. Hoosier does make bias formula car tires, but I don't use them, primarily because they aren't available in my sizes and they have a narrow slip angle. I use the radials..43571s and the 43585s. Bias tires are very strong and are popular with off road drivers because their sidewalls are extremely rugged.
Here is a Hoosier link--> click on "Specs" in the left column under road racing for a full chart...https://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm
Give up yet?
P.S.: THANKS for sending me to the Hoosier site…!! My favorite tires are ON SALE, brand new, at $110 each...just what I need for next year time trials....a new set of STICKERS! Yea!! Free shipping!! Havin cake and eating it!

In that case, the only issue is that you might possibly get a ticket for driving on non-DOT tires. I've driven past plenty of cops on Hoosiers and have never been stopped. I knew a guy with a C6 Z06 that always drove his car to SCCA events on A6's, usually won PAX, and drove back home. They're great tires.
If you want something that is officially blessed for street use, you can get something like these. I might try them on my next car.

Ok..one last story. A good friend of mine drove his Elise to the track on R compound tires occasionally, as he lived close enough he didn't want to trailer. One day,he was involved in an accident. The car was towed from the scene. His insurance company totaled the car. Two weeks later, they denied his claim..because his car was equipped with "racing" tires. They were clearly marked for competition use only, and because of this, they considered the accident to be in violation of his policy. He appealed his case and lost. Did the tires cause the accident? Doubtful..however, it was grounds to legally deny the claim, and cancel his policy. This actually happened this year.
So,there is more than just the element of personal injury IF something does happen on public roads with non approved equipment on your vehicle.
Choose wisely...![]()

They can also deny claims for 5-point harnesses, racing seats, roll cages, etc. Some people have successfully fought them in court after being denied.
I'd rather use a sticky tire and avoid an accident. Good wheels are important too.

Looks like they're out of the rears in the size you've mentioned (23.5 x 13.0 R15 R25B), and I know Eddie uses the 23.5 like you do... Any thoughts on adding a half inch to the sidewall and ride height if going with the 24.5 x 13.75 instead, since you know the characteristics and feel of these Hoosiers? More tread width on those too. I'm strongly considering them since 70% off is tough to pass up.
