I am current running 60's in the back. I don't know what MadMax is running.

I thought that the Rotrex took time to rotate up to RPM, just like early turbo's.

I think you're confusing turbo lag with a centrifugal supercharger design. Turbo lag describes the phenomenon that when you have a step change (large change over a short period) in engine RPM, there is actually a delay between when the engine reaches the target RPM and when the turbo wheel reaches steady-state speed for that RPM. Because superchargers are belt-driven, they don't have this issue. However, centrifugal pumps in a supercharger application compress much more poorly at low RPM than their dual-lobe or twin-screw counterparts, which leads to lower overall compression at low engine RPMs, which in turn leads to less power and torque at low RPMs. This can create an effect that is a bit like turbo lag, but is fundamentally different. The other lag-inducing bit about a centrifugal charger is that, like a turbo, it must be mounted farther away from the intake valves, especially if you have an air-to-air charge cooler. This increases the time that it takes between spooling up the pump and getting to steady-state pressure at the intake valves.

OK, I did already know some of that. My question was not phrased the best, but, thank you for the informative answer.

You're welcome! I'll see if I can get you spring rates later today.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't take any time to spool up. It spools constantly but with different speed. The more the rpm, the more it spools. It is a typical centrifugal in terms of power delivery.

Here is a dyno chart of a 1.6 liter Mazda Miata motor with a Rotrex set up. The Thick Lines are the Rotrex power delivery. The Thin lines are a tuned modded naturally aspirated motor. (see attachement)

And the Second image is a Rotrex Atom at 13psi (low boost) making 216 hp at 4700 rpm and 387hp at the peak.

    FUN FUN stuff.

But as Darth and Bolus will tell you... A Turbo will get the job done. A supercharger gets the job done for Norm. I hope to get the job done someday with a Rotrex. =)

I'd would have done a rotrex if I could have fit it in the car. but there is no where to put it inside that engine compartment

Let's power buy a bigger shoehorn! Then we can pass it around and everyone can install those mods they've always wanted.

Booo Forced Induction! Yay large displacement!

For $5k I'd get a set of Shinoo's 15x7 and 17x9 setup, a set of A6s, a good revalve, spring change, and cornerweight.

Don't forget the strengthened uprights. with 17x9 and 295 rubber in the back, you'll need the extra support.
