    How is this possible?

    Hey everyone. My names Dean and I've been searching this forum for about 6 months now. Since I don't have an Atom (hopefully one day, it's my dream car) I never felt the need to post. As I'm getting more serious into getting one, as the odds of me getting one for around 40k in the next few years seems possible, I browse more frequently. In my Internet travels I found this Hadron XR thing. Before you snap my head off, know I'm not affiliated nor do I "approve" of it. I feel it is such an infringement and just plain wrong. My question to you is this. How are they getting away with this? They say there are no patents or copyrights in the US but I find that hard to believe. I hope it isn't true, as I can see these leaking into the Ariel market, especially when I will be looking for one. What's everyone's take on the final outcome of this issue? It can't be legal. Anyway, nice meeting you guys. I'll be around!

    It's going to be a moot point if they don't get funded.

    A friend of mine reached out to them trying to buy a chassis now and without going thru Kickstarter. They refused to sell him one until Kickstarter reaches the $85k goal. Without the goal, there is no Hadron XR. It doesn't look like they're going to reach the goal at this point.

    In all the years I have been in the automotive/motorsports industry,(over 45 years) as both an enthusiast and professional, I have never found one copy of an original product to be close to the original in quality,support and overall value.Not once. That said..Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    Henessy Venom --> Lotus Exige
    Tesla roadster --> Lotus Elise

    Actually AA...original 911 was NOT a beetle..the Porsche 912 (Porsche 911 lookalike) may have had a similar engine to the original beetle (which was actually a detuned Porsche 356 motor,and actually built BY Porsche under orders for the German govt)) but the 911 was all Porsche 6 cyl.Not a copy,especially considering Porsche built many of the VW anyways.
    I prefer the the stock Lotus Exige to the Henessy highly modified Lotus Exige, especially considering the price difference..and since it is actually a modified Lotus..isn't a copy.
    Same with the Tesla..actually a modified Lotus Elise,and having driven both...I can firmly say the Tesla modified Elise is a joke on track compared to a stock Elise, which will run circles around it.(for a lot less money)

    You actually have not shown any true copies..just modified originals and in the case of the Tesla, a ruined Elise.

    You may as well call a Pontiac Firebird a "copy" of a Chevrolet Camaro,which it actually is to an extent...BUT, considering they are both made by GM,the same parent company....really does not make it a "copy". Get it?

    The only noteworthy 'copy' of an original design worth mentioning (in my opinion) is the Factory Five Shelby Cobra replica.It is of high quality and reasonably priced. However,as far as holding value..with Shelby Cobras bringing more than a million dollars..the Factory Five replica falls very short in that criteria (for being "better" than an original)

    Now back to our regular scheduled programming. I'm off to Whiskey Hill for two days..YEEE-HAAA!! (my good friend is bringing his Lotus Exige Cup car..he also owns an Elise)

    Don't know if you guys have seen but the project has been cancelled... it wasn't reaching the funding anyway. Wonder if it was that or if TMI got to them? Still over here dreaming of getting a used one someday for 35k. I know I know..just let the middle class man dream ok? Lol

    It's a catch 22, if it was cheap enough so everyone can get one then it would loose it's desirability as a rare dream car. But the Atom really is rather cheap (both in purchase and maintenance) compared to even low end exotics.

    Yes I suppose that is what makes it desirable because other Exo's just don't do it for me. I saw the SRA thanks Max, but I'm looking to be on the road. Not exactly sure what it would take to switch over, but I'm assuming once you do everything you might as well have bought a street one already. I'll just keep chugging at my job and saving. My wife is on board so hopefully one day I will have one. We both have decent jobs (her as a nurse and soon nurse practitioner and I'm in law enforcement) so persistence is key and I'll just hang around here in the mean time haha.
