So the Ariel Atom Replica rolling chassis is real and its $9000

The company Hadron XR are claiming to be launching on Kickstarter Wednesday at 9:00Am PST according to there twitter account. Turns out Simon Saunders was not so smart and Ariel Motors has no patent, trade mark or copy right in the USA and only trade mark in the UK for the atom. This according to hotrodomine, who has some kind of inside info with Hadron XR. He's stated that the company has put a lot of measures in place to upgrade key component parts in the suspension and frame. The bell cranks and uprights are custom milled from billets on 7075 aluminum, Porsche 911 bearings, and a 5 x 114.3 hub. He said they will be offering a full line of aftermarket parts including carbon fiber wings, side pods and windshield kit. The kicker is that a full rolling chassis he claims will be under $9000. If these guys are for real what is TMI and Ariel going to be able to do about it? He says they can ship to countries all over the world. At that price it would be worth having one as a back-up. For all the retards that think nothing good comes out of China, tell that to Apple and the rest of the fortune 500 companies that manufacture there. Every car manufacturer has parts made under contract OEM in China. How many from your BMW or Mercedes are made OEM in China? Thats right dumb ass, times have changed. For me its all about the fun of driving. If there making a quality product and at those kind of prices, I say AWESOME!

    "Hand crafted in the USA."

    haha... or England.

OP, if you want an Ariel. Buy an Ariel. If you want a knock-off, buy a knock-off, but don't kid yourself, it will never be the real deal.

Those chinese chassis are salvage; rejects from the parent company. They didn't make the grade and were abandoned. If that doesn't scream a QA/QC problem then you are the 'retard.' Insurance and registration will be the exact same headache as a real Atom, there will be absolutely NO factory support when you wad it up, and when you finally want to recoup your money, you can expect very poor re-sale of your chinese knock-off. That is unless the seller lies about its true origin or takes advantage of a true, ignorant sucker.

If I were to buy an illegitimate chassis I would not expect to be making many friends among the people who ponied up the money for the real thing. Expect to be a very lonely poseur.

So don't be "that guy" who ruins everything for others.

    Vic,

Seems like most of your focus is solely on this H____ XR company. What is your affiliation with said company?

If you are as big a fan of them as your posts indicate, why are you on this forum? You could easily start your own for that company and be the moderator, thereby controlling all the threads, topics, members, etc...

who actually is in charge of this forum? This guy from the start is obviously also the hadron guy and should be banned.

When people who don't truly understand a language and then try to fake sincerity using that language they think they sound real and yet to everyone else its so obvious they're trying to deceive us like we're naive schoolchildren or something. It's kind of cute in a embarrassing and pathetic way.

I do believe Steves in charge..and he allows some...leeway in posts (so I have come to learn and enjoy..usually)

Truth: The Chinese have managed to raise their quality from NFW will this even work twice...to actually making quality iron brake rotors..and high tech gadgets. Some other stuff so I have been told...

Their bearings I will not trust to work on a cellar door for a day..

Many other "precision" things they produce also seem to be quite lacking in..engineering purity,as many of their "ideas" are borrowed photos..

You can steal an idea but not the passion to build it properly.

    Anyway...

So the Kickstarter campaign needs $85k to be funded, and they're asking for a non-refundable $995 down payment on a rolling chassis. Balance of $6500 to be paid if campaign is funded. Does this mean they need ~85 people to give a non-refundable $995 to meet the goal and proceed? Or does this mean they need $85k/$7495= ~12 people to fund the campaign?

It means they need 85 suckers to send them $1k and then skip town. Why mess around with people like that? You save up,buy the real deal and be happy for life..

I've invested in 3 kickstarters and sending that kind of money regardless of the product / promise.....I would not do.

It never ceases to boggle the mind how many so-called ethical US business people are so readily willing to support & engage the Chinese in their never-ending unethical & unauthorized cloning of American-made products. Unfortunately, this is also part of the dying American Dream.
Thankfully for all, there are still more than enough US consumers who continue to possess both the personal understanding & integrity to readily recognize & appreciate the intrinsic, inherent value of “the real thing”, vs. any undisguised fake knock-offs, no matter how they may be portrayed. Those who may potentially derive any business benefit from engaging in such acts of forgery are ultimately destined to obscurity & failure.
