    Custom seat installation

Has anyone purchased a custom seat for their Atom 3 or SRA? I have the SRA and I seem to be going much faster these days so comfort and safety are becoming more of a concern for me. The Kirkey seat is a bit big for me and provides very little head protection so I want to upgrade. I was looking specifically at this OMP seat after trying it out at the Sonoma Race Shop:

    Seat: OMP HTE-R
There are brackets available from them too: Brackets

Not sure what issues yet I'll have trying to make this work in the SRA, anyone have any thoughts or experiences to share (a little help from TMI here would be nice!)

I am also looking to replace the Kirkey -- but its hard to find the width. The current seat has 18" width, maybe 19 W" can be squeezed to fit.
What is the width of the OMP HTE-R?

Are you sure you guys are measuring your seats correctly? I am 6'2" and 250lbs and fit fine in a 17" Kirkey, A 19" seat is for a BIG butt! I have one of these 17" Kirkey road racing 70 series halo seats in my "other" car and it is very very supportive, and they cost about $500 bucks and weigh about 22lbs.$_57.jpg

my problem is the Kirkey is too big for me at the hips, I'm 5'11 and 170lbs and the hip and body support is too wide. I've tried ratcheting the sides in (its aluminum and it bends!) and I've added more padding but still it's not a fit for me given I'm pulling up to 2Gs around the track and lets face it the lap belts are a joke to properly tighten up too.

The inner width measurement of the OMP seat is 390mm (15.35") which is still not a perfectly tight fit for me but it's better.

    Richard,

A smaller seat would be what you would need then. I would recommend an aluminum seat as it will be easier to mount however.

    S2KSeven,

It is the same Kirkey seat - the one in the photos I posted just has an optional halo mount bolted to the top of the seat.

I have the Corbeau seat with the custom made brackets that mount directly to the original Atom mounts it is pretty tight but probably not high enough for you in the rear.
