Think I was one of the first...Texas DMV asshats revoked my title back in November of last year, I heard of a few that got their notice after mine. The guy from the DMV told me they were specifically targeting Atoms literally #becauseracecar. As I was working on another car project for a while I gave up and just parked the Atom, but now I'm back trying to figure out what to do. The part where I have no title is the most frustrating....

Anyone have any update on this? Is there a private thread to discuss this issue? I'd like to be added if so. Tired of my atom collecting dust.

There's no real update. Texas only changes laws every 2 years and the 2015 session just passed. It'll be 2017 at best.

For what it's worth, I was able to renew my registration back in July. Mine was originally titled as an ASV (assembled vehicle).

You'll need to get added to the private forum. Steve can do that for you. In the meantime, I'd love to hear about it via PM.

I'd like to be included in the private forum as well. I live in Louisiana, and haven't been able to get much info from anybody who tried to register an Atom in my home state.

While I live in WI, as a potential owner of these cars, this thread concerns me. I suspect it spooks many others about buying an Atom.

The beauty of an Atom is the ability to title it and make it street legal.

    1. The state of Texas actually stripped your car from its title? They can do that without notice or compensation?
    2. Has this happened elsewhere?
    3. Why the private forum? As a buyer, I really would like to know what the plan is to correct it.

I would not worry about it. Most states have not had an issue with Atom registration. Texas is an isolated issue. FWIW I've had no problems in my state since 2007. Some states have condemned Atom registration all together, others have strict regs on 'safety equipment' making registration impractical.

If, in Wisconsin, you can register a rocket tied to a roller skate like you can in my state, then you should have no issue with an Atom. If Wisconsin is full of socialists that think you're a liability to yourself and others and unqualified to think and act for yourself, then I'd anticipate an issue. YMMV

    Good luck.

You and I will get along just fine Sadly my state is about 1/2 full of crazies....hence my concern.

My broader issue is when I go to sell, if states won't allow registration, it begins to restrict the market.

For the record, I am hardly panicked about. Just being prudent in my research and decisions
