Hey guys,
I'm just starting to research all the aspects of owning an Atom. I've been in talks with the one guy who has successfully registered an Atom for street use in Wisconsin. I've concluded that it will be difficult, but it obviously can be done, and I don't mind if it takes a long time to go through the registration process. I have a Mazdaspeed Miata and a hopped up Subaru STi to play with in the meantime.I've looked into financing. I know I can afford an Atom. I'm a software developer still living in home with very few expenses. The hard part seems to be actually finding someone to finance the car. I think my best bet would be through a credit union, but I'm not going to try until I've done a lot more research. Another aspect of ownership I've looked into is insurance. I've heard it can be hard to insure these vehicles, especially if you're under 25 years old. I'm 24 currently, and I will be crossing that 25 year old hump next January. My insurance through Geico is currently very cheap. I have full coverage on my Mazdaspeed miata and STi for less than $100/mo. I know I'm in a pretty good position financially to own an Atom, but there are a lot of hurdles and loopholes I'm going to have to get through. If anybody has any experience with getting through any of these processes, especially in Wisconsin, please don't hesitate to reply with some helpful advice. I want my next car to be very unique, very quick, and very fun, and I think the Atom fits that bill perfectly. I look forward to potentially going through the adventure that is Atom ownership with all of you!
