Hello from David at TMI AutoTech!

    Hello Atom fanatics,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the North American Atom community, my name is David Dew and I am the newest addition to the team here at TMI AutoTech. After years of experience in the automotive industry selling cars for major manufacturers I am incredibly excited to be the new point of contact for all of your Ariel Atom needs!

I'd also like to announce the arrival of the 2015 Ariel Atom 3S, a fire-breathing, 365 bhp, sub 2.8 second to 60 track monster. Below is a link to the press release highlighting some of the new features of this truly awesome supercar:

    Ariel Atom 3S

If you have any questions or comments regarding the Ariel Atom please do not hesitate to contact me, I can be reached directly at (434)822-9130 or via email at ddew@tmiautotech.com. Thanks!

    Nice drivetrain indeed!

However, those pods..ug! Someone needs to do a bit more work on their appearance. Yes,I know they are functional, but they look like a couple of zits on a pretty face to me.

Does this mean we should all stop emailing/calling/texting Mark directly for everything? (I'm betting he'll be happy about that.)

If so I'd like to formally request a factory supplied Turbo Kit for my 2012 SRA (K24). Can you see if that's something you can make happen? I know Mark wants to get them in new cars first of course but said the goal was for a kit to be available in Q1 2015. Being an SRA I'm not sure how a kit would differ from an Atom3 if at all, also adding the ugly side pods seems to be an unavoidable requirement too I guess? Plus I'll need a stronger clutch and what else?

Couple of other questions for you:

I've had nothing but problems with my Wilwood front brakes, so much so that I'm considering just swapping them out for something else. Can I switch to Alcons only on the front (Calipers, Master Cylinder and fluid reserve) and keep everything else or practically do I have to just replace everything (including the entire brake bias unit and god forbid the pedals too??) What does an Alcon brake kit include if I do swap everything out?

I'm also potentially interested in getting a full windscreen for my SRA, any concerns with fitting that?

Richard -- my Atom is currently being built and is spec'd with the Wilwood brakes. Can you elaborate on what problems you have had? You can PM me if you would rather respond that way. Thanks.

After I got the car delivered everything was fine but I found I had to keep dialing the front bias forward over time because I'd always be locking the rears soon enough I ran out of dial; fronts would never lock up. I replaced pads, fluids (so many times I lost count) and the master cylinder and still no luck. I had TMI work on it at Spring Mountain (they adjusted the bias bar and I installed new rotors) and for a couple of weekends it was magically working again and then went off again without me touching anything. I then had Sector111 replace the master cylinder with a rebuild of the first one I still had in my trailer, Wilwood confirmed there was faulty spring in there. It worked great again for about 5 track weekends but now it's back again. Its not just the inability to lock the fronts that is the problem, the real problem is that it causes an imbalance in tire heat and that changes the dynamics of the car hugely; it's just not a pleasant car to drive at the limit with no grip in the front and overheating tires in the rear! I would have won a couple of SRA races if I didn't have this problem.

I believe the Alcon brake option also uses the same Wilwood masters (at least my two Alcon equipped Atoms do). Never had any issues with my brakes, other than the stock pad material sucked. (love my Carbotech pads!)

David -- can you weigh in on the differences between the Wilwood and Alcon? I believe the Alcon option has changed somewhat with the floating discs -- right?

That kind of negates the point of you being on a public forum full of Atom owners and enthusiasts. Why not share what you can with everyone?
