    Florida Atom 3 Owner

    Hi guys!

Thanks to Gage for directing me (and others) to this great new Atom resource. I have a 2010 Atom 3/245 that my brother Alan and I have been modifying consistently since purchase. My use is about 80% street and 20% HPDE. Here is a photo of my wife returning from a quick spin around town:

Fortunately for me, Alan professionally restores, prepares, and sells race cars and has taken an interest in the Atom. A few of the mods he's created so far include true race-spec carbon fiber components all around; custom exhaust; custom rear wing; race-grade instrument gauges for oil temp, oil pressure, and water temperature; custom tow hoops front and rear; seat cushions; CF mini-instrument panel; relocating the horn actuator to a steering wheel button; and some other cool stuff.

Looking forward to learning and sharing ideas with everyone!

Awesome! Welcome, Kim. Great to have you here.

I'd especially love to hear more about the CF components. I'm a sucker for aftermarket CF.

Looks like you already added some bigger tires to the rear. Look to be 245's by the way they the stick out under the fenders (I did the same thing)

    Now you need some 275's

Pictures? I don't got to show you no stinkin' pictures.
    But I will ...

The rear wing was originally fabricated in aluminum but is being replaced next week with an all-carbon fiber unit, including support rods

Your tires look great! In fact, Alan is looking at putting some Formula Atlantic wheels on the car. Still working out the loads on the hub, etc. As you rightly pointed out, right now I have 245s on the 9" rear 17" wheels.

The Atom sure does look better with wider rear wheels ...

Your car looks fantastic! I'm glad you found your way here.

One more photo - this is the dash showing the new gauges (Alan is painting the bezels black tomorrow and re-mounting them in CF) and the new mini-dash on the left that has the transponder switch and the re-positioned dash control button.

For the moment, the 'PTT MIC' button on the wheel is actually the horn button that was relocated by Alan for easier access. I don't know how many times I've reached for the original horn button and hit the starter instead. Eventually, he'll add an additional button that will allow use of a car-to-pit radio.

Its also really fortunate for you that your wife likes the Atom enough to drive it. That is great.
