    Remote oil cooler / filter

Here are the pics from my install of Unique fabricating's remote oil cooler / filter kit.

I decided to make my own braided oil lines for the kit. These weren't as difficult to make as I was led to believe. Kit includes the cooler, remote filter, filter boss adapter, oil lines and spring to help fashion the plug for the bottom of the where the old oil filter attached.

The original oil filter is removed. There is a plug with a o-ring on the bottom of the filter. This fits in the bottom of the oil filter boss. I cut off the plug and then use a spring under the original oil filter cap to hold it in place. If this is not placed, the oil pressure drops and will kill the engine

making the braided lines. I used this tool http://www.koultools.com/

The remote oil filter bolts to the lower suspension attachment points. But the cooler needs to bolt to the frame. I did this using rivet nuts

The adapter then fits at the side of the old filter boss where the original oil cooler used to go. The adapter has a port for the original oil pressure sensor and an extra port 1/8 NPT for an accessory. I use this for an autometer oil pressure gauge for the dash.

unrelated to your install but related to the remote oil cooler, Nicholas's ecotec motor failure was due to the oil seal failing in his brammo installed remote oil filter relocation kit......scary.

Bolus, bringing this back from the dead. Max did not come with a remote filter/cooler and I would like to go this route. Do you know of anyone making an oil filter/cooler relocation kit for the LSJ? I see revolution racing engines makes a drop-in adaptor for external lines, but does not address the holes in the LSJ block. Is Unique still building their LSJ kit? I can't seem to locate them on the web..hmm. I wonder if TMI has any Ecotec kits left. May have to give Mark Swain a call Tuesday. I'm almost excited about building an engine for Max. Almost...

Memory tells me that Tom bought the last of them from TMI, but, it is definitely worth a call.

Tom or TMI is the only source for the cooler/filter relocation

revolution racing and CBM are the only ones for a remote filter adapter

Say what? The Brammo one is all stock parts except for an aluminum plate used to mount the remote filter to the frame. Here are some pictures. The only thing not covered in the pictures is the spring that must be installed in place of the stock oil filter.

The one shown in the eBay listing is definitely custom, but the one Brammo used was a stock casting that replaced the on-engine oil cooler and had a pair of threaded openings for the remote oil lines.

You could actually do the remote cooler and leave the stock filter, but given the PITA that it is to access in the Atom, the filter was relocated as part of the remote cooler loop.

I meant the part to bolt to the filter boss

Right. That black aluminum plate with the O-rings. The Brammo part number for it started with AA-PT, which means that it was a stock part purchased from some vendor. The trick is finding the vendor and seeing if they still stock / make them.
