If the coffee table book was a gallery of unique photos of Ariel Atoms published by the photographer,I have NO beef about that. However,if it was an ensemble of Atom photos previously taken and copyrighted by Ariel, yes,I would have issues with it. (assuming Ariel did not endorse the book)

I don't see the DP2 as a copy of the Ariel Atom. Not at all.It is a unique Exoskeletal car design and other than that, has very little in common with the Atom. There are many exoskeletal designs out there, but very few are a direct copy of the original Ariel Atom.

As far as finding another forum,I was not aware this one was yours to control. You guys crack me up. I never asked the OP not to post, just stated my opinion of what he was posting, nothing more. You decided to push the issue...

Being quiet about things that offend me? Fat chance. I am not of that generation.

You steal from another…and that means anything which you do not have permission to take/use/borrow from the owner of record…including photos, ideas, patents, copyrighted material etc etc..you are a thief.

Plain and simple. Can you be so obtuse?

The power of an Atom is a terrible thing to waste! Atom owner/operator since 2007. The more you chase perfection, the faster it becomes. John Force for President! (I asked him once in person...he laughed)

I don't think it's a stolen design though. And I think that's the difference. He doesn't call it an ariel atom (he calls it a replica). He didn't break into headquarters and steel the plans for the deathstar (err atom frame). He's having a good time, and building something that looks kinda like an atom. If somebody buys a factory 5 replica, is that stealing?

You think its an atom, and therefore the design has been stolen. I don't, I think it's somebody who has done a good job of trying to copy one. You have your beliefs on the subject, I have mine, but the difference is I don't call people names for not believing as I do.

Life lesson - has using that language ever convinced anybody to do things the way you wanted, or changed their minds on a subject? I doubt it. It makes people dig in their heals, just to resist that line of thought, whether it is right or wrong.

Something both ends of the political spectrum in the USA have forgotten - digging in your heals drives people away, it does not convince to join.

(damn.. what did I put in my coffee this morning.. )

Did you look at the pictures on the OP's blog? Depsite my being "obtuse" even I can see that it's not an "direct copy" of an Atom as you seem to think it is. As far as I can see it has as much in common with an Atom as does the DP2. So what's the difference?

You call the guy's production of a "unique Exoskeletal car" theft. What exactly has he stolen?

Can you discern the difference between told "I don't like you," and being told "you're a piece of shit"? Do those comments sound different to you? Would you react any differently if someone said either of those comments to you?

What is the point of attacking people on the forums? What do you get out of it?

Apparently, I can. You must be obtuse also that you have to ask that question.

He is calling it an "Ariel Atom" replica,an exact replica. Using the Ariel Atom name on his website to sell his products surely is an infringement on Ariels rights. I'm pretty sure they would agree..

He could just as easily have called it the MKC Exocar, but instead is selling it as an Ariel Atom exact copy, which will carry more credibility,as the Ariel Atom has a valid history.

"Unlike other kit car books that explain general options and theory, this eBook covers every dimension to build this exact replica."

    Included will be:

Frame dimension with engineered drawings for individual tubes & brackets and details on simple fixtures

Exploded views of assemblies with part numbers for off-the-shelf parts"

Looks like he is setting up shop to sell knock-off parts and information to build Ariel Atom "exact" replicas.

And, Yes,I am of the opinion that FFR did infringe on the Shelby Cobra design, and Shelby has filed suit in the past on the same belief.(still an ongoing litigation..I believe)
However, the Shelby Cobra was long out of production before the first FFR Cobras were ever built…so there is some grey area here in some peoples eyes..especially when FFR did so many improvements on the old design;it may look similar, but all of the chassis has been completely redesigned. None of the parts interchange with an original Shelby Cobra.

"I don't like you," "you're a piece of shit". Nope, neither one offends me more than the other. One is a bit more...descriptive.

I suppose sleazy scumbag is a bit bold..but I could have chosen MUCH worse. They aren't even "banned" words for media usage.

If you can't see the difference between a DP2 and an Atom,I suggest you look closer. With good glasses and lighting…wow...

MadMax, I am sure there are others that feel the way you do but haven't commented for some reason. I have had to fight Trademark ripoffs before in my business. I, for one, would like to thank you for calling a spade a spade.

Hehehe.... nope, no lock... yet. I like discussion (and even disagreement) in a forum, but only if it can be done on all sides with civility. So this is a gentle reminder for everyone to stay well clear of personal attacks, and we'll have no probs.

<whine> oh man..no fair... since we haven't track talk or modification talk in a good long time. I look forward to watching Mark spin up and bounce the rev limiter, he's got to be bored being 10' under snow in the arctic tundra..
