FS: Aurora PRM/PRB-6 series rod ends ("race grade"), 8x

Used rod ends (<1000 miles total) from the old Brammo pushrods. Some nicks from installation/deinstallation. Complete set of 4x PRM-6T and 4x PRB-6T, with jam nuts, to replace all pushrod rod ends. These are the ultra-high-strength Aurora part, cost $50 each when new. Selling for $275, shipped, to the lower 48. Can also include stock Brammo suspension pushrods (2x front, 2x rear) for a total of $400.

Note: these rod ends will not work on the steering pushrods, due to their larger shank-to-bearing distance.

Huh? I ran PRM/B's on the steering pushrods until I got the customized Aurora parts I ordered.

My steering pushrods are 420mm long, and the SPM/B parts are almost bottomed out on them. While the front pushrods are a smidge shorter at 416mm, that is not enough to run the PRM/B rod ends. If/when Brammo switched to delivering AM/B parts as stock, they could have changed the pushrod lengths, but that would not be the case for your car. How long are your steering pushrods surface to surface, not counting the rod ends? I also have the quick steering rack, which may have a different length, but it's difficult to measure with any degree of precision.

I can't say as my Atom is at Tom's for a bunch of top-secret work

I had a very early car in which Brammo installed the "lawnmower grade" (that's a direct quote from an Aurora employee) SPM/B rod ends. Mine was also early enough that Brammo put collar stops on the steering rack, as otherwise the steering pushrods would hit the fender brackets. [That was fixed with a re-designed set of fender brackets and I then removed the collar stops.]

I made an appointment to visit Aurora after I picked up my $8500 "repair" from Brammo, where they installed the same grade of rod end that failed. Just about everybody came out to admire the Atom and inspect the sheared-off rod end. They never get to see most of the cool stuff their parts end up on, like the space shuttle. People were coming out of the building when they had a free moment. At one point, a woman comes out and makes the "lawn mower grade" comment. I asked her (as I did with all of the people) what she did at Aurora. She replied that her job was to sweep up the metal shavings that accumulated on the floor from the end mills. So, even the cleaning lady knew these were the wrong parts for an Atom.

Now I want to make a lawnmower with double wishbone suspension and inboard shocks and run around my yard pushing it at full speed!

I do wish I could get away from the lawnmower-grade rod ends, but it looks like I need to make new pushrods before that can happen.

Terry, since you've investigated this a bunch... what specs did your custom rod ends need to meet that none of the stock Aurora parts were suitable for? In looking at the full travel of my steering rack lock to lock, I cannot see any potential binding issues. The SPM/B lawnmower ends are tolerant of greater misalignment than AM/B or SPM/B, though.

I have my original brammo push rods if you want them. what length do you need again? They already have rod ends (one step above the lawnmower ones) I replaced my with the palatov ones
