It was a really pointless comparison, which of course we've all seen before on Top Gear UK (twice in fact.) Mainly though Autoclub Speedway is really not the place for an Atom to challenge many other faster speed cars let alone a bike. Just on the main straightaway and turns 1 and 2 the Atom loses multiple seconds to lots of otherwise less capable high HP cars because of the aero drag once you get it close to max speed. The Atom would soundly beat that same bike at lots of other slower speed tracks they could have gone to instead or they could have at least picked a track to make it look close; just a badly researched and executed bit overall.

Ironically Top Gear USA used to do power lap comparisons and an Atom (albeit a specially tuned one) topped the list before they killed the old show format.

Correction....that Atom is far from dead! It has a brand new engine, gearbox, supercharger, frame rebuild and much more and is currently being fixed back to "original" OEM spec with assistance from Ariel UK and TMI.

Just thought I'd chip in and mention that
