^Yea,that's the place, and cheaper than Ebay if you buy it from the website and send in your old shafts. Money well spent in my eyes. I am shooting for the 280-300whp level of performance with maximum on track (road racing)dependability,so most of what I will do will be for durability vs. peak HP. Build it strong and make it last. I was pretty happy with the on track performance at 300whp,and I believe holding the hp down below that level will keep the rest of the driveline together (I've spent too many years watching other car owners explode their cars) There has to be a balance between power and dependability. Unless you are running Top Fuel...![]()

I bought the bushings and cut off my shafts at work. It's a soft metal, so it was easy to do (band saw and belt sander). I think you could get the bushings back out of the block if you really wanted to, but it wouldn't be easy. Probably never a need to anyway.
Btw, the vibration isn't bad at all. My mirrors vibrate a little at a certain low RPM, but that's about it.
Ryan, where did you buy the bushings alone..from Level Zero? I was going to have a look at the balance shafts once I got them out of the block to see if they could be "home built"...but you answered that question.
"the vibration isn't bad at all" I was wondering about that...I have eliminated balance shafts out of other engines with no real adverse effects, but never an Ecotec. Good to know.

"I did the delete kit though so Im not running anything." I thought you cut your shafts..now you have me confused..are you running no chain and using an electric water pump drive?

GM racing has a delete kit (GMracing part XGH676). It is a shorter chain and different chain guide. It does not include the bushings.
They recommended a reinforced chain tensioner as well. They sent me this one but my engine builder already made one by the time it arrived.
So you run a shorter chain to the water pump and get rid of the balance shafts completely. that's how they ran their 1400hp drag car

I was going to cut off the shafts and just use them as idlers.I won't be turning any high rpms(under 7.5k) so chain length etc not overly critical. Just ordered my ceramic clutch and the LZ delete bushings. I need to wait for the clutch before hauling the crank/rods/pistons/flywheel etc down to Lindskog for balancing. I decided to stay with the stock rods as I won't be doing big boost or rpms, and they are pretty rugged units to begin with.

Pretty simple procedure to cut the nose off the balance shafts..you could even do it with a hack saw and file,as there are no precision surfaces to deal with:
Before and after:CIMG3984.jpg The material must be iron as it is quite soft.
