Thread: Lithium Iron Replacement Battery

FYI, year two with no problems. With the battery cut-off switch, no longer have to charge the battery. It works for me.

Thank you for your posts on this relatively new technology, especially this one, where it has been in service for a while. Very tempting weight reduction!

The power of an Atom is a terrible thing to waste! Atom owner/operator since 2007. The more you chase perfection, the faster it becomes. John Force for President! (I asked him once in person...he laughed)

You know those fires were from significant punctures to the batteries right? If you Atom took a big piece of rebar to the fuel tank on the highway is it going to fair better? How about the 150,000 car fires every year? shouldn't you be giving up gasoline powered car? 150,000 is a whole lot more than 3

what would be helpful would be some data on the number of motorcycle fires where this specific battery was being used.

And no one has insurance either. Every Atom is a beautiful, unique snowflake and absolutely irreplaceable when 2.5lbs of lithium compound (not half a ton ) oxidises and scorches some paint, wiring and fiberglass.

I've also NEVER had a lead acid battery blow up while on the charger... It's never presented a fire risk what with all that inflammable gasoline all about.

You guys are such drama queens.

For the record, the LiFePO4 battery in my motorcycle has been working like a champ for nearly 3 years and I'm still alive to tell the tale!

Burn baby burn! I am skeptical about ANY new product or technology..especially when they malfunction, that's all. AGMs for me,thank you.

For those who endorse experimentals with open arms...may your guardian angels carry an extinguisher...or two...and never have to use them.

Do you mean nobody insures their Atom's? Why not? Its easy to get and actually pretty cheap.

Sorry, that's a feeble attempt at sarcasm. I'd wager that for the price of a deductable were an Atom to burn down, be wrecked or otherwise damaged to the point of being a write-off, a check for the the agreed upon value would be issued and subsequent premiums would go up for all Atom owners.

I always thought it funny that my policy covers, flood, fire, theft and random acts of god but not deliberate acts of mankind (e.g. terrorist attacks or war)

What's the icon I was supposed to use? Is it this one? :P or is it some other mitigator icon? "colon, 'tongue in cheek,' colon" doesn't translate in the forum UBB code...
