The Atom is a great car to learn on. I had no mechanical experience when I bought the Atom. Its been a great way to experiment and learn how to do things. the composites do take quite the learning curse especially if you want it to look pretty. Though I did manage to make some new turn signal housings and a reasonably accurate copy of a fender that went on to make the mold for larger CF fenders from a professional. But I learned how to pull the engine, have learned how to make my own braided steel oil lines, made my own metal LED turn signal lights to replace the plastic ones, etc

It's been a while back but IIRC there is more engine vibration transferred from the seat being more rigid. The Brammo engine mounts for the Honda were pretty stiff to begin with.
Any local car or boat shop that fixes/repairs composite fenders/hulls might take an interest in helping you just becasue the Atom's so different. Never hurts to ask if you don't want to try it yourself.
